It’s fair to say that Gwenno Saunders is one of 21st century Britain’s most visionary artists. Since the release of Y Dydd Olaf in 2014, Gwenno has created her own truly unique landscape to work in. It’s a place where dystopian science fiction stories unfold and where both motherhood and the fractured politics of our age are explored; it’s where sunken cities off the western tip of Britain are brought back to the surface in hypnotic, dream state electronics and her ever-present, ethereal voice.

On each of Gwenno’s hugely acclaimed albums, the languages she grew up fluent in are explored in a pure, playful way, whether Welsh (on Y Dydd Olaf) or Cornish (on 2018’s Le Kov ands this year’s Tresor). These strange, enchanting tongues are less like ciphers that need to be cracked and more like invitations beckoning you to come live with her in the vivid, mesmerising world she’s building with each new record.
