Katy J Pearson

Katy J Pearson

In 2022, Katy J. Pearson returned with Sound of the Morning. In truth, her second album wasn’t just the sound of daybreak, or the early hours. Produced by Dan Carey (Fontaines DC, Black Midi) and Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Gruff Rhys) and featuring guest vocals from Orlando Weeks, it was a universal sound that suited every hour of the day, wherever it was played.

On the radio, the singles Talk Over Town and Alligator were A listed by 6 Music, the station that declared the album one of the year’s greats so far. In the fields, Katy played main stage slot at Green Man and rapturously received shows at Latitude, Deer Shed and Blue Dot, as well as live shows supporting First Aid Kit, Idles & the legendary Portishead. In the charts, it was the Number 1 independent album after picking up massive support from the best indie shops across the country. And in the press, it was praised as “captivating” (The Guardian, 4*), “a sweet elixir” (NME, 4*) and “a record that contains a whole heap of guts” (Hotpress, 9/10).

End of 2022, Katy sold out a major headline UK tour and joined Pavement on dates around Europe, before headlining her own shows in France.

2023 has already seen Katy support Yard Act in Australia and next stop is a follow up to USA in April & May (after last year’s successful trip to SXSW) before more European festivals in the summer.
